I have turned off comments on blog posts. I would like to talk to you! But there’s too much spam.
Cookies
There was some boiler-plate stuff here about cookies, but it all had to do with comments. I am fairly certain that there is no reason for WordPress to save cookies on a blog that has no comments. I have looked at the blog on private (incognito) windows in Firefox and Chrome, and they both say that no cookies have been stored. But there might be a cookie related to language or geography that I am not seeing when I look.
Email newsletter
When you sign up for my newsletter, I will have the email address you gave me. I will not use it for anything else than to send you the newsletter, which is a monthly digest of blog post summaries.
Of course, if I already happen to have your email because you have also contacted me directly, outside of signing up for the newsletter, I may send you emails at other times. But if I only have your email because you signed up for the newsletter, I will only use it for that.
I do not collect names or any other information about you. MailPoet (the service I use) records some dates: when you subscribe, when emails are sent to you, and when you unsubscribe. I have disabled the part of MailPoet that tells me whether you opened or read the emails I sent to you. I feel like that’s your business.
Embedded content from other websites
Some of my blog posts may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who I share your data with
Nobody.
How long I retain your data
I will keep your newsletter-signup email address until you tell me not to, at which time I will remove it, and all other information about you, from my records.
