Here I am talking to some people

I’ve been doing a bit of public speaking lately. I don’t love it, and I’m not very good at it. I wish I could speak more clearly and calmly. Still, these talks might be useful to some people anyway, and I am grateful to the people who invited me to speak.

On stories in organizations

Here I am giving a presentation in Artem Mushin-Makedonskiy‘s recent Historia Academia conference on the “Chief Story Officer” role in organizations.

If you want to learn more about the many varieties of story work in the world, you might want to check out all of the presentations in the “Chief Story Officer” conference, as well as in Artem’s previous conferences (I also participated in his 2023 Stories without Borders conference). I applaud Artem’s patient, respectful, and ground-breaking work in bringing many voices together across the world of story work.

On complexity in human life

Here I am talking to Madelyn Blair about my book Confluence in an episode of her Unlocked series. It was a joy to talk to Madelyn, who I have long looked up to as a mentor in the world of story work. I wish I had half of her poise, calm, and clarity of speech. And she understood the point of Confluence better than most people do! The story she tells at the end of the interview is at least as important as the interview itself.

If you want to learn more about resilience and leadership, you might want to check out all of the interviews in Madelyn’s Unlocked series.
